Stand up and be recognised!

Dear IGrow Member,

Does your insurance company of choice recognise your “future” occupation? Two years ago IGrow Risk Managers realised with a shock that the insurance industry did not recognise “Rental property investor” as a occupation, the insurance industry did not even cater for a property investors needs and the insurance industry did not promote individual property investing.

Currently most IGrow investors are in a daily occupation / activity of daily living, either it being a teacher, doctor, fireman, business owner etc.

Most insurance companies cater for everyday occupation categories and will insure the policy holder for that specific occupation. In other words, if you become disabled in the future and the occupation that you were in was recognised by your insurer, the chances would be very good that you will get a pay-out from your insurer.

Every IGrow member somewhere in the future will either retire or resign from his current occupation (because he made enough money from his IGrow money machine) and then he will become a fulltime “rental property investor” – managing and looking after his property portfolio.

If something happens (accident or illness ) to the IGrow member at that point in time and it causes him or her to be disabled, then surely one would expect your insurer to recognise your disability claim and pay out your insured amount.

Now this is where the problem starts, because 99% of the insurance companies in South Africa does not have “rental property investor” on their list of recognised occupations. Therefore the chances are very good that your disability claim will
“not meet their criteria” of a valid claim, because you were not in a recognised occupation.

Discovery Life, IGrow Risk Mangers insurance company of choice, have amended their risk product to include and recognise “rental property investor” as
a occupation. As a additional bonus they will provide the disability cover until
the age of 70, whereas most other insurers taper and reduce your disability cover from age 55 (10% per annum) or 60 (20% per annum), therefore when you reach the age of 65 your disability cover would have been reduced to zero.

What it means is that when a IGrow member retires one day and becomes a “full-time rental property investor” , and becomes disabled while managing his property portfolio, his disability claim will still be assessed and reviewed – and the chances are very good that the IGrow member will get a disability payout, whereas if his disability cover would have been with another insurance company, the chances would be very good that the IGrow member would not have had a valid claim – because the insurer would not have recognised “rental property investor” as a occupation.

I urge you to seriously contemplate and reconsider if it is worth your while to be insured by a insurance company who will not recognise your future occupation when you retire. If a insurance company does not recognise your occupation, does such a insurance company really deserve your loyalty and support?

Contact your IGrow financial advisor so make sure that you get comprehensively insured and that your future task of daily living, get recognised as a occupation.

A “recognised” investor is a fearless investor.
